Faculty & Staff Information

Our Office & You

Thank you for taking the time to look over our website! Your students are our students and this website is designed with them in mind. A few things that might be helpful for you to know about our office. These include:

  • We have dedicated staff people who serve specific student populations. You can find who a student should contact by looking at the Contact Us page.
  • Many of you work closely with our office as Federal Work-Study supervisors. You can find reference information and database access in regards to Federal Work-Study in this section of the site.
  • We encourage you to familiarize yourself with our Policies as you may find yourself involved in providing advice or support to students who may have financial aid-related concerns. Please encourage students to communicate with our office if they are experiencing any financial difficulty or have questions regarding their financial aid.

Work-Study Supervisors

If you are a Work-Study supervisor, you will need a copy of the Federal Work-Study Handbook and also be given access to the Federal Work-Study Administrative Site. If you need any assistance with either of these, please contact the Federal Work-Study Coordinator in the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office.

AU Scholarship Database

If you are one of the staff members appointed to use the Academic Unit Scholarship Database on behalf of your Academic Unit, you can gain access to the site by contacting the Assistant Director of Scholarships. Our office receives Academic Unit scholarship awards through this database and no longer accepts emailed lists of awards.

Writing Letters of Recommendation

UMKC's Financial Aid and Scholarships Office hosts a competitive scholarship process every year. Many of you will have input in regards to which students receive scholarships by writing and submitting a letter of recommendation. We do not have a specific form you need to fill out, but we do ask that you submit your letter of recommendation following the directions the student receives from our office.

More information about writing letters of recommendation can be found on the Career Services website.
