Several types of financial aid and scholarships are available to Undergraduate students at UMKC:

You will need to apply in order to receive financial aid or scholarships by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Remember that this application must be done on an annual basis. Be sure to follow-up with the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office to make sure you've turned in any requested documents after you have applied.

Don't forget to look over the Basic Information section of our website to find out about deadlines, tips for applying and learn how Cost of Attendance affects your eligibility for financial aid.

If you're looking to find out how much it costs to attend UMKC, you can view current Tuition and Fee Schedules on the UMKC Cashiers Office website.

Graduate & Law

The primary source of funding is in the form of Loans for Graduate and Professional students at UMKC. Graduate and Professional school scholarships are generally available from the department in which the student will be studying. Limited scholarship opportunities for graduate students may be available through the School of Graduate Studies and through the Currently-Enrolled Competitive Scholarship process in the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office. Law students should refer to the School of Law website for information regarding scholarship opportunities available.

Graduating Students

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation! Here are a few helpful tips for you as you prepare to leave school:

  • You can access your federal loan history from www.nslds.ed.gov using your Department of Education PIN. This will give you information about the years and amounts of any federal loans you have borrowed while in school. You can also determine who currently holds your loans and who you will need to repay.
  • Read over the Loan Repayment section of our site to find helpful information on Repayment, Deferment and Forbearance and Consolidation.
  • Stafford Loans have a six month grace period. If you haven't used up your full grace period prior to graduation, you will not need to begin your monthly payments until the grace period is over. If you have previously consolidated, a grace period will not apply to those underlying loans; a grace period will still apply to loans not included in consolidation.
  • Be sure to also check balances, grace period and repayment information on any Institutional or Private Loans you may have borrowed. You will be contacted by UMKC's Student Loan Office to complete Exit Counseling in your final semester at UMKC for any Institutional loans you have borrowed.
  • Set up online accounts with any of your lenders and make sure to update your contact information with them anytime there is a change. You can also contact your lender if you have any questions about your monthly payments or if you're having trouble making your payments.
